I downloaded the Dapper version of xserver-xorg-core (1.0.2-0ubuntu10.1)
to my Edgy system and it worked for me. It has by the way always worked
for me on my system since breezy and I seem to have my graphics card on
an other pci domain. However, version 1:1.1.1-0ubuntu5 -
1:1.1.1-0ubuntu7 in Edgy
I also had in /etc/environments the following row (added myself to
accelerate Konqueror web browsing):
KDE_NO_IPV6=1
I commented it out, made restart to CUPS and even to PC but it did not
help - CUPS still not accessible...
I also have in Firefox some tweaks

It seems like it's not actually CUPS problem but just KDE 3.5.4, which
is not able to communicate with CUPS 1.2.2
This is my humble opinion :)
But how to trace the reason of this bug - I don't unfortunately know...
If somebody does - please let me know. Perhaps I can so help to resolve
this bug..
I feel like my problem could be related to #16610... But my disk is not the
standard IBM one.
And when the machine freezes after resuming, I don't event have SysRq to dump
anything...
I'm completely lost to hunt the source of this problem, and it happends every
two weeks or so...

I also got bitten by this. I also think I found the reason for this
confusing behaviour.
The system preferences proxy setting (System -> preferences -> Network
Proxy) has the effect of setting the http_proxy environment variable, to

I can reproduce this here.
You can workaround it in istanbul by choosing a lower resolution. It is
caused by theoraenc beeing slow and ximagesrc beeing a live source.

It may be a permission problem, but I think there should be a fix or
config setting for the kde io slave before it is closed. Manually
mounting a share using the options described on that site or adding a
share to fstab is not easy for the average user.
