I determined that resolvconf was installed together with mailx.
Removing resolvconf did the trick. One thing however, you also need to
remove all the configuration files that go with it otherwise the system

Yep, I have the same problem using an onboard i810 and an SiS card - I'm
eagerly awaiting a fix cos I'm using Dapper at work and programming is
much more convenient with dual-head.
I already look a bit stupid having recommended Ubuntu to all my
colleagues and then been seen with a broken dual-head
you can try with edgy when a package with those change will be upload
(not sure if that's already shipped with 2.15.4)

I've tried to enable SSL on OFTC but the log shows xchat-gnome is still using

Looking through the dependencies it seems xchat-gnome doesn't depend on
libssl0.9.8 anymore. And the build log for amd64 confirms it that it was build

fixboot, fixmbr had no effekt on my problem. Even a reinstall of xp

Not to bug anybody, but it has been a month since KDE released the fix. It has
been fixed in the new edgy release. However in the main LTS release it is still
broken. Again, I am not complaining, but it seems to me that the LTS should
come first before the development release.
