the bug randomly appears.
For me was the same, without using irqpoll many times ubuntu starts without
any problem.
However, sometimes happed that ubuntu didn't start correctly and stops on
{DRDY} black screen.

I solved the problem re-installing Hardy (wubi installation under Vista).
After the copy the installer will ask you to reboot the machine in
order to proceed to the installation.
