Here's my solution:
- Download the official Java for your platform (x86 or x64).*
- Put the jre folder (make sure it's named jre) in the same folder as the shell
installer. This causes the installer to use Java from your jre folder, instead
of any installed copies.
- Make the shell installer exe
For 12.04, the short answer is to install a local copy of Sun Java 6
update 32 or later. Even this is not a permanent solution as
thinkorswim won't stay installed. ToS used to work with 10.04 (on 64
bit AMD, with 64 bit OS), but since August 3, won't even install on 32
bit OS on 64 bit AMD.
