For 12.04, the short answer is to install a local copy of Sun Java 6 update 32 or later. Even this is not a permanent solution as thinkorswim won't stay installed. ToS used to work with 10.04 (on 64 bit AMD, with 64 bit OS), but since August 3, won't even install on 32 bit OS on 64 bit AMD. See:
