Downloading the current version from Quantal (avfs_1.0.1-1_amd64.deb
worker_2.19.2-2_amd64.deb worker-data_2.19.2-2_all.deb) then installing
those on Precise works perfectly. No other updated packages seemed to be
required.

Hi all,
it is easy reproducible with live CD 12.04 (run -> add Universe repository
-> install worker).
Jean Goudreault is right: disabling avfs it works again.
