I also experience similar sound problems on Ubuntu 12.04. In my case, it
seems like there are random sound glitches (e.g. every 5 to 10 minutes)
during the playback of any audio. It happens in Audacious (audio player)
as well as in SMplayer (video player) or also in Google Chrome when
playing video

I am neither a pro, nor know computers very well. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 on
T60 fresh install and had the same sound issue. It was not present in 10.04. I,
by chance, open alsamixer and changed "s/pdif p" setting to "ADC" from "PCM"

I have the same problem on a fresh install on a Lenovo T60 laptop. I am
also using Windows 7 in Virtualbox. The problem is definitely worse at
