Sandra Farnedi, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. Regarding the Bug Description, a search, in the built-in help
and the LO wiki, did not reveal any information on a Base Field Type or
any restrictions when using them. Hence, this is at least a
documentation issue. As well

Same problem with the following field types: TINYINT (3), BIGINT (19), REAL
(17), DOUBLE (17), OTHER (2147489647).
Moreover I notice that the following field types NUMERIC, DECIMAL, FLOAT,
VARCHAR, VARCHAR_IGNORECASE, inherit the latest set length, that is: when I add
a field it is set to VARCHA
