the important thing is to narrow down when exactly the regression happened. ubuntu 11.10 and ubuntu 12.04 differ in more than just the simple-scan version, but the scanner driver from libsane-backends changed as well and is probably the problem here. so we would like to know if on ubuntu 12.04 o
