Same here - and at least we'd have some idea where to go to at least
find out what we needed to do.
Given that Ubuntu has set itself up as a friendly distro for people to
move to - naming this package friendly-recovery is a bit of an oxymoron
for those people.

I've noticed this in Ubuntu 12.04. Because I don't do it all that often,
I find it hard to remember the remount r/w command, and there's no way
to look it up at that point. That makes the whole experience a bit
frustrating for me, and I imagine others as well.
