Still present in Ubuntu 16.04. It only remembers last-save-directory
when gnome-screenshot is running interactively. But when I press shift +
prnt scr shortcut it forgets the last-save-directory.

Same in 17.10. To workaround, I added a keyboard shortcut ("Gnome
screenshot - interactive", Alt-s) in Settings -> Devices -> Keyboard.
The command is "gnome-screenshot --interactive".
So now at least it asks me where to put the file.
