OK, I've edited the deja-dup desktop file to include a quicklist to allow
access to the preferences, and ALSO displays the progress bar whilst running.

mkdir ~/.local/share/applications
cp /usr/share/applications/deja-dup.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/
cd ~/.local/share/applications/
After some more digging around.
In /usr/share/applications/
I have three deja-dup desktop files. !?!
One of which will display the progress bar whilst backing up if locked to the
launcher.
The other two will load up the deja-dup preferences window if clicked and if
backup is run from the prefer
