The crash did not occur for months now (currently I'm using

Title:
Kernel Panic during system startup
misko, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

Hi,
for me, "acpi_backlight=vendor" fixed the brightness-issues.
Now I also added "acpi=noirq".
However, the panic did not occur for several weeks now, even without
this setting.

"acpi_osi=Linux" is never an appropriate workaround for any issue.

@henrix: indeed there might be some troubles with snd_hda_intel on my
system, dmesg allways contains following entries (if the system starts
up without a panic). However, the sound works.

I'm attaching the full dmesg from the crashdump report. It looks like
an issue with the snd_hda_intel module, but still under investigation.

@misko,
There is a new kernel in proposed. I have no idea if it resolves this
issue or not but it would be worth a try. You should probably boot back
to -16 and then enable the proposed pocket. Then you can do another
update and pull in this new kernel.

Hi,
i tried booting 3.0.0-16 20 times - no panic.
Then I retried with 3.0.0.17: at the 6th attempt (today, ... sometimes
it happens even faster) another crash occured. Below you can find the
backtrace. Shall I upload the complete dumpfile?

@misko,
Can you boot into the previous kernel version(3.0.0-16) and see if the
panics go away?
