I confirmed this is happening with the latest stable branch from 3.3. I
don't think this is related with MM, it's probably just a coincidence
(as it's the last thing printed to the screen).
I can also confirm that this fails only with Snowball, and the same
rootfs was used with the other boards/te
Mathieu TL: It doesnt sound like you managed to get it in before the
freeze. I have a snowball V11 I can lend you to work on. Since you are
in Montreal, I can send it to you quickly. We won't meet the 2012.04
cycle but the 2012.05 perhaps.

I haven't gotten to test this yet (need to flash an SD card with the
right image first), but the issue is clear-cut enough that I can easily
take this and mark the modemmanager task as Triaged and assign it to
myself to check the IDs on my own board and add them to a blacklist rule
for udev. To be
MM itself being respawned at reboot is unfortunate, but I really don't
think it's blocking the system from rebooting. Fortunately, I happen to
have a snowball board that I can test this with :)
Has it been verified that MM probing the device serial lines is really
what is affecting the reboot?
