Seems like the same problem I see, 7.04 beta downloaded as of 8 April
2007. For example, I turn on desktop effects and when I launch Firefox,
I see the window border and random bits and pieces inside.

I encounter the same problem on a desktop computer with a video board
ATI Radeon 9600 PRO. The 3D acceleration works by default with the open
source "ati" driver, but clicking on "Enable desktop effects" makes the
content of the windows disappear.
