Hi Charlie,
I could update the PPA packaging. But it's been a while since I looked
at the package configuration and I am not up-to-date what changes in
debian/ubuntu policy have been made since then. Can you provide some
details on what should be changed in the package?

Picard-1.0-1 is in the hands of my debian sponsor, when uploaded to
debian I will sync it over to ubuntu.
Bob Bid please consider updating the "official MusicBrainz stable PPA"
packaging to be inline with current debian/ubuntu python policy.
I would be more than happy to help with this, it would
New stable version: Picard 1.0 (2012-06-02).
This version has a fix for this bug incorporated, so you can update the package
from the MusicBrainz stable PPA, look at:

This was fixed some time ago (as you can see from the PPA package working fine):

The problem was caused an incompatible API
BTW, scan function works fine in unstable version of Picard from the
daily PPA; links can be found here:

Similar errors appear in Precise with Picard from "official stable PPA".
Maybe, this bug has something to deal with new version of Qt libraries
in Precise (some API changes?).

Scan function works fine in picard 0.16+bzr1217~ppa6~natty1 (on Natty,
surely).
