Thanks for your bugreport.
This problem is fixed in my local tree and the fix will be part of the
next upload. It will ensure that there is a linux-image-$flavour
installed that matches the installed (uname -r) flavour.

The upgrade went fine indeed, the problem is that current no meta-
package enforces a kernel.
