It's probably because you have installed phpX-mysql modules, which
modifies php.ini on install to put 'extension=mysql.so'.
I guess it cannot be helped.

Michael, just curious: when you say fresh install do you mean 6.10
install or 6.10+latest updates (as your upgrade instructions otherwise
suggest). FWIW, I think both should probably be tested.
