I am not sure if this is related, but I am also having another issue
with presumably Unity and xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, which renders my
touchpad on my MacBook Pro 5,2 useless as soon as I start to utilize the
keyboard after logging in. Whenever I enter text in either the Dash's
search bar or
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

This bug is pretty unusual... Initially, the 3+ finger gestures work on
login; however, after another 20 seconds or so, they cease to work and
cause the whole Desktop Environment to freeze. Although, even though the
mouse pointer is still active and recognises text, buttons, etc...
