Yes, with the update you mentioned the bug is eliminated. My machine
immediately shuts down now.

please do a fresh update and see if libxfce4util4_4.4.0-0ubuntu3 helps.
The chances are very slight but it's worth checking. The package contains some
rc file writing fixes which cause crashes in xfdesktop and xfce4-session, it
may affect the saving of session info when the dialog box is checked.
This only happens when I select the checkbox that tells xfce to save the
session for future logins.
When I leave this box unchecked, the machine is immediately shutdown, as
it should be.
