While this is indeed a bug in mesa, there is already handling in unity- support-test in nux to handle software rendering and it should be extended to also block llvmpipe because it's not going to be able to run unity in 12.04. You can reproduce this bug when using mesa by exporting LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOF
