I switched the computer in question to a file server, so now it's
running Precise server version and text only mode. I haven't seen the
issue yet, but it's only been a week since the switch. I'm sorry, I'm
not able to switch to other kernels for testing at this time.

This could be related to bug 801840 and bug 1016556 Disabling firewire
in the BIOS is a workaround for those bugs. Could you go into your BIOS
and see if you have the option to disable firewire?

Version 3.3 is an upstream kernel. Precise is based off the v3.2
kernel, which was released upstream prior to v3.3.
Can you upgrade to the latest Precise kernel, and confirm if this bug is
fixed there or not?

I've been using 3.3.0-030300rc2-generic-pae for two weeks now, and it
hasn't crashed once. Marking it fixed in upstream, but I'm not sure if
the tag should say "-v3.3-rc2" or "3.3.0-030300rc2-generic-pae". Can you
please advise Joseph?
