I don't believe that this is an Evolution issue. I have been having the
same problem with Thunderbird (with the Enigmail add-on).
If you have specified in your ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf file that you want to
see ID photos, then such photos will pop up in the default image viewer
(xloadimage, eog, or disp

Wouldn't it be more elegant to show the display photo at the top right border
of the message, and locate there also the check mark?
It would be always visible but not annoying at the same time...

OK. Can you please do the following:
get such a picture displayed as you state, and then (while it is still
diplayed):
a) run 'ps -ef, and find out what pid is showing the picture; then find out the
parent pid(s);
b) on a terminal, run gdb against your Evolution pid, and issue 'thread apply
al

Evolution 2.10.0, Feisty Fawn. The picture is awkwardly displayed in
EOG. If somehow there is more than one, the next one displays after the
first one is closed, bringing productivity to a halt.
