Alexander Adam, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagementASPM a patch was issued to address heat

I think the problem why the fans are so noisy are based on various problems: #1: radeon module fan control: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-driver-ati/+bug/748080 #2: I think the basic power consumption of the laptop is quite high so the lost heat is quite high (I got about 68°C while I'

Do you still use vgaswitcheroo then or do you just use the integrated graphics card and are unable to switch to the dedicated one? If your system is noisy without blacklisting the radeon driver it could be that vgaswitcheroo doesn't work right and associated with https://bugs.launchpad.net/lpbug

I don't have this issue with my 700Z5A. Though I had to blacklist radeon module to prevent it from consuming insane amounts of power (and using the fan constantly). Maybe adding blacklist radeon to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a mem
