Sorry, forgot to specify - I originally had the bug on normal Ubuntu
Feisty release (not Kubuntu as original poster).
Cheers,

Maybe I can help move this along.
I had this bug, also on an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. I can confirm that
the problem no longer occurs with Gutsy (well, at least no more
hda_codec msgs in dmesg).
Note that I don't think these were the root cause messages. I had one at
boot up (could see via Ctrl-A

You received this bug notification because you
well for all I know its not reproducible in Ubuntu ultimate 1.3 which I
know is 32 bit... just attempting to run beyrl currently. If I remember
right you gave me a link to a site I did not have access. So I assumed
after some time you wished to be left alone after telling you I did not
have access.
Ok, I've waited over three months for your answer. Is the symptom still
reproducible with a Gutsy Tribe 2 desktop CD?

sorry... was a little angry at someone in the irc room. They sudguested
me (and I was duped) that I should use their fix. However later I found
out that it would ignore the message and well passed it on to another
process. The end result was a crash of the APCI. Leaving me to figure
out how to fix
Next time, please do not inline such lengthy debugging out. Use
attachments, thanks.
This issue is likely resolved in Feisty already; to be sure, please
attach - as _separate_ attachments! - the requested info from
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems
