issue in the current Ubuntu release, Jaunty Jackalope 9.04. To reopen

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 8.04 on a Thinkpad R30. The hard
drive light stays solid and if I flip over to another terminal window I
get the hdc: drive not ready for command line over and over. Seems to
happen randomly, but I know its happening when bootup takes longer and
the hard drive li
Hi nomad, I solved the problem by replacing the optical unit. Perhaps
you should try the same.
