Just an update. I accidentally never actually switched back to Ubuntu
precise kernels. So I've been running the rc2 kernel ever since
November. But I did eventually hit the bug several times on the
mainline rc2 kernel as well.
I am now for realz back on Ubuntu precise kernels.
