After Chris Rose's comment
(https://beta.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/88801/comments/19) Pau sent a
message to Catalan LoCoTeam list (see
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/CatalanTeam) and got his webcam detected using
"xawtv -hwscan".
Therefore, I'm rejecting since this is not a bug. Thanks Chris!

Hm, OK. Seems I've sent you on a bit of a wild goose chase, sorry. On
closer inspection the spca5xx driver seems to be depreciated. As in the
error log it fails to build with recent kernels because config.h was
removed. Because of that, it has been removed from Ubuntu kernels and
replaced by gspca
output of sudo module-assistant auto-install spca5xx
i think you'll find some keys here, when I tried to install the web cam
with dapper it always crashed here

Thanks. It is normal not to be able to query some USB devices when you
are not root. Your webcam does appear to be supported, but the driver is
not being loaded. What version of Ubuntu do you use?
If you run the following command, does your webcam work correctly?
'sudo modprobe spca5xx'
If not,
some info that can be useful for you:
last post i send was made as a root (sudo lsusb -v)
some times if i try to access to some usb without being a root (i.e
using som programs as rioutil for my mp3) i get the error:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ rioutil -l
Attempting to open Rio and retrieve song list.
