We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested

The workaround is you need to install 'alsamixer' and you can change it
in there.

Bass feature worked in previous Ubuntu releases, but does not work at
all now in Ubuntu 11.10. The sound set is a menu where you can turn the
bass function, this does not work. It's reached the failure of the menu
that has the bass boost to make. I do not really know what you mean by
