I have not been able to upgrade to Oneiric because of this bug. Actually, I
ended up spending days trying to reinstall Ubuntu 11.04, until I had to
completely e-format my drive and restore all the personal files from back-up.

alternative would be to report this directly to the subsystem maintainer
