I am going to close this as it will not be fixed prior to the KDE release. This is what is considered a "Wishlist Bug." You were right in reporting it here, however with the Oxygen Icon Them in our future, that is when this will be implemented, and it will be implemented by KDE. Thanks for this rep

I personally don't think it is serious, but it is something that would be nice. I use the icon 'folder-man' for my Documents folder I created, it is a blue open folder with white "paper" in it and it fits nicely in the way I have my folders set up, my photo folder for example is the blue icon with
