It's certainly related, as eclipse in feisty (still) can't even see a
java-6 vm.

Installing FireFox, cures this Eclipse start up problem... seems like
un noticed module dependancys in Eclipse... or the like, perhaps via Java
but there is a clue there note same as found in bug#72211,
just latest updated Fiesty Herd4 code, + Sun Java 6
