That is current behavior.
All of the dupe notifications are occurring _because_ people are
notified to the master bug, in this case bug 72018. If they were just
subscribed to the smaller duplicate bug, then they would never be
informed of further disc

Well that's fairly annoying. Subscriptions should be carried over to the
master bug when a person is subscribed to a dupe.

Actually, launchpad is doing it's job correctly.
Here's what's going on: At one point in time you were subscribed to a
bug in firefox. You received notifications on changes to that bug.
Then, it was marked a duplicate of another, master bug, bug 7201
