I can confirm that switching my theme back to default did help.
The theme designer said it was updated to 3.2, and visually it fixed
some of the earlier problems of misaligned items of the 3.0 compatible
theme. I'm not sure what the problem would be.

Please report this to the theme developer who should work with the GNOME
Shell developers to resolve this issue. The theme might just need to be
updated to be GNOME 3.2-compatible.

My computer appears to freeze whenever I start typing in the shell box,
or when I even click on the Applications tab to navigate. I have to
launch any application by command line and be very careful not to try
and file search. My mouse will still move, but I eventually have to hard
reboot my comput

Hi Jeremy, I have ran the apport-collect 864206 and submitted the data.
I hope this is useful.
I am running nvidia-current.
The 100% cpu problem lasts forever, I have to reboot the box to recover.
I can CTRL-ALT+F1 and get to console. I can see , by running top, that
gnome-shell is close to 100

gnome-shell) then you don't have to tell us you're running 64-bit Ubuntu
as ubuntu-bug will automatically provide that information. To provide
that information afterwards, run apport-collect bugnumber.
