I did a further investigation in this and there is only Java Web Start
available for i386 but it can be still utilized in on amd64
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FirefoxAMD64FlashJava). As long as it
is not a Ubuntu bug, I would mark it rejected.

By the way since you want to open a JNLP application, you can still do
it with command 'javaws file.jnlp' if you have JRE installed (package
sun-java5-jre).

Can you once try downloading jre for amd64 from sun's site and make sure
that it has plugin for amd64? If it has a plugin then file a bug for a
new package.

I am afraid that there is no java plugin for amd64. Is it bug or do I
have to use a 32 version of firefox and plugins as described in
