OK, I ran the command, gave it half an hour or so, rebooted the machine.
I still get a dialog saying that zeitgeist-daemon has crashed.

Running the "dbus-send..." command in the terminal gave me this output

running this command in a terminal:
dbus-send --print-reply --session --dest=org.gnome.zeitgeist.Engine
/org/gnome/zeitgeist/index/activity

Wow, that is an interesting stack trace. I assume you have less than
1,462,895,201 items in your index? ;-)
Looking at that monstrous doc id it would seem that this is either
memory corruption in the zg process or that it is a corrupted index,
that xapian somehow doesn't detect.
