Agreed and sound-juicer (aka Audio CD Extractor) is much better, especially
when
that is modified after adding LAME so that it can create 32-320K VBR MP3s !

Are you still suffering from this issue? Grip is no longer being
maintained by upstream or debian, it will be dropped from Karmic (unless
someone takes over maintenance), hence the change of this being fixed is
small.
i suspect that this is due to grip trying to play the CD the the
internal analog
Since multiple users have confirmed this on 8.10, I'm marking confirmed.
Perhaps a member of BugControl can set the importance?

ubuntu 8.10 has the same problem, no sound when trying to play a audio CD.
Nevertheless extraction works and it's the most important.

have the same problem, no sound when trying to play a correctly
identified audio CD.
