I started getting this problem with 2.6.20-12.19, I didn't have it
before, or at least I didn't notice it. After a long while of throwing
this errors eventually the disk ends being disconnected, I can't access
any files, even fdisk errors out and doesn't show the partitions, like
if the drive was t

I get the "ATA: abnornmal status" problem on a i386 machine too with
-11. -9 works nicely. Let me know if you need more information.

Core 2 Duo MBP here, same problem. 2.6.20-9 (and previous) worked just
fine for me. Any chance we can bump the severity of this bug? The
machine will not boot anymore.

My macbook (not pro, Core 2 Duo) generates output like pl4nkton's on
boot. Boot-up hangs at the last line.
This only occurs on 2.6.20-10 for me. 2.6.20-9 and 2.6.20-8 fail with
different errors :)

I have the same problem with my macbook pro.

Somewhat same for me with a macbok pro..
getting "abnormal status 0x7F on port 0xD407"
After trying at DMA/100 and PIO/0 speeds it gives up and then finds the the
CDROM drive. Then it stalls. (So it doesn't find the harddrive).
For me this just happened with 2.6.20-10-17. 2.6.20-9 does not have
