nautilus is not saving the settings somehow so thats probably a bug in
nautilus. for Unity though there is an other bug for the case when
nautilus dont draw the desktop cause problems

thanks for the bug report. Can you login to a guest session or try to
create a new user and login to it and let us know if the issue happens
there. Its one of a user settings case it seems.
