I haven't tried to reproduce it lately, since I'm now using Gnome 3.2 as
my desktop environment. (Nothing against Unity, it's a great effort and
I appreciate all of the hard work -- I just happen to love Gnome 3.2's
style of interaction.)

It's worth noting that Compiz crashed shortly after taking this
screenshot, so the cause may be something that isn't related to
rendering the text in the menu.
