One observation I want to add: Static blur gets updated if you maximize
the dash. Aside from that, it really doesn't work as it should. This
needs to get fixed...

Same problem here with my intel irolake card. With static blur it only
ever shows the first blurred background it grabs. For example, if the
first time I open my dash is on my desktop, then my blurred wallpaper is
all the dash will ever show when I open it in the future.

Yep, static blur means "we'll blur what we find when we show, but won't
keep it updated". Active blur is what you want if you want the
background to stay updated :)
