Merk, yes, repeating "Free" is monotonous too. (Maybe I have a high
sensitivity to monotony.) But that's pretty much unavoidable -- it would
be hard to convey zero price any other way -- whereas repeating "(0)" is
avoidable.
Greg, moving the price below the icon would (and did) make the tiles
tall
How about this with grey stars? It's not the hollow star so as to not be
confused with just having a rating of 0.

The proposed solution in the screenshot doesn't appeal to me, it is not
at all obvious what the (0) means.

I'll have to disagree with "(0)" or "Not yet reviewed" repeating looking
monotonous. The vast majority of apps are "Free" and that doesn't look
monotonous, if it does, then that's another bug.
As for another option, perhaps display the stars but greyed out so as not to be
confused with a great 5
