I tried with Ubuntu 8.04 and I do not have a crash.
According to the "core dumped" file it looks like the crash occured in
QRect::isValid () from /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3
This is the Qt library.
Can you try again on Ubuntu 8.04 and confirm the bug is still present?
