- it seems that the bug affects acer/emachines models
- the touchpad is not recognized by kernel/x.org, the is no touchpad tab in

I can confirm that this is still happening in 12.04. There is a kernel
bug since sometimes the touchpad is recognized and sometimes not (on a
random basis) with no clue of what's causing it.

Mihai Chivu, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?
Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images

i dont know why this would help but i might as well report. i rebooted
my laptop and unplugged my usb mouse while ubuntu shut down and now my
touch pad is working.
