You need to dist-upgrade, at least install compiz-core. Switching between tty 1
and tty 7 revealed compiz crash and apport said (after recent updates) install
compiz-core which was one of the pending packages.
Attach log file from tty 1 which I did tee to text file.
Anyway, after dist-upgrade and

Thanks,
first of all my system was/ is totally up to date
So I decided to go another way: I logged into unity 2d and reinstalled
unity, compiz and also erased all settings in unity
This did the trick...but now I can't tell you anymore why this happend,
I'm sorry :(

@GodNobody can you do the following?
1) start unity session
2) switch to tty1 using (ctrl+alt+f1)
3) login using your username and password
4) run the command:
unity
what is the output?
