This is an example of the noise. What's very strange is that only a
slight part of the noise is recorded, with the really bad part being
heard by the ends of the call.

I will record the sound as soon as possible, but it's pretty hard to
obtain because it appears at very strange moments.
I will try to record it with the record capability of Gizmo Project.
That's what I did in the first place when obtained a nice long noise,
but because I didn't hit the end call b
One possible way to narrow this down would be trying to record sound via
the microphone. You could try recording with Audacity and if you have
the issue with that, depending on the size of the file, attach it to the
bug.

Thanks for your bug report. Could you please also add the output of
'lspci -vvn' to your bug report? Additionally, if possible could you
add the output of 'dmesg' after the event to your bug report? Finally
do you happen to know what audio codec you are using for the calls?

Please don't leave this unsolved. It's really annoying not to be able to
have a business VoIP call because of this bug.
Also found other people with similar problems on Ubuntu Forums, but no
fix unfortunately.

Thanks a lot for the really fast response.
I will try to give you as much information as possible.
I'm using Ubuntu Edgy with the latest updates and no particular
modifications to the sound configuration files.
The sound comes from an ICH6 Family High Definition Audio Controller, as
reported by
Thanks for the report.
More information is required. What version of Ubuntu are you using?

The error is present in Project Gizmo too, so it's somehow related to
Ubuntu, not just Skype.
It's not a problem of the microphone I'm using because I have tried
another microphone but the noise is still there.
