Note, however, that the problem here was due to not having a keyring:
either n-m failed to cater for an non-existing keyring, or g-k-m failed.
This is the problem we need to look at.

I do not know. I also do not know how to reproduce it.
I am also unsure if this is a n-m issue, or a gnome-keyring one -- or
perhaps the interaction between both. What I know is that I did *not*
have a keyring, and n-m barfed there. I will try to get a machine where
I can play with it, but right n

Network-manager don't use /etc/network/interfaces, comment all
interfaces except lo.

I experienced the same problem on Feisty Herd3 (actually Feb 11 daily).
I used this report as a guide to fix it. Here's what I did:
1) Tried to connect to my WEP enabled router, it failed
2) Created a new key ring (one existed called "session", I named this new one
"test")
3) Tried connecting, st

I noticed that, at no time, I was asked for my keyring password.
(knetworkmanager remembered about it :-)
And... indeed, I had *NO* keyring (so, no password), under Gnome. So I
went into Control Center, and created a brand new keyring.
