Additionally, new windows started from the dash also don't get focus
depending on what I run: the bug is 100% repeatable with Firefox and
Nautilus and never appears with gnome-terminal. Seems like it might be
the same bug.

least the firefox menu issue does not occur anymore and will open new
reports about the remaining issues.

I've found that at least in the case of firefox menus, the events are
not lost, but the menu is rendered in the background. Selecting all open
windows at least once and minimizing/maximizing them, restored the
correct behavior. This *may* be linked to some java windows workarounds
for compiz, but n
