I had a similar experience. Flashplayer was not working. I went to Adode and
downloaded the tar.gz file for Flashplayer 9 - unpacked it and tried
sudo ./flashplayer-installer
as directed - got no errors
but flashplayer still didn't work
at adobe I got more information
and I manually copied the

Updating to Flash 9 is indeed the solution. I couldn't find a simple way
to update from within Firefox, so I downloaded the new tar.gz from Adobe
and installed from the command line. Is there a GUI way to do this?

Thank you for the bug report, can I ask which version of the flash
plugin did you install? You can find this out by typing in
"about:plugins" in the address bar? If it is version 7, can I please ask
you to update to Flash 9 and retry the website in question.
