Maybe something similar would also be good to have for the indicator
menus in the Unity greeter for LightDM? That too has a transparent top
panel.

I, personally, prefer having my menus opaque, since it sets them apart
from my transparent panel. I think this should be set through the GTK
theme, not compiz. It should at least be optional.

The challenge will be making only the app-indicator menus transparent.
Maybe we could wait to see if Unico has rgba support, then it should be
easy to at least have menu transparency (only the in the top panel) with
the GTK theme (just have ccsm set a custom value in the user's
~/.gtkrc).

I can confirm this behaviour but since setting the panel opacity is an
experimental feature this is probably of Low importance to fix.
