sudo ppa-purge ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
sudo ppa-purge ppa:linux/chrome
Take note if the purge for chrome works or not.

/var/run/screen/S-root.' so the error output is not in there.
Can you attach a different main.log so I can have a look?

Actually, you should not have it. Lets see two things:
1) Files from /var/log/dist-upgrade
2) Files from within /etc/apt/
